Chasing Ghosts

You and your best friend are ghost hunters. Your friend believes so much in the presence of ghosts, but you're just there to make sure he doesn't hurt himself. Again. Well, there's also that other thing, but you've got to keep it a secret.

Chasing Ghosts is a queer horror-adjacent interactive fiction about you and your ghost hunting friend. Experience a little ghost hunting, a bit of drama, and just a smidge of psychological horror. There are ghosts, but they might not be the thing that bothers you.

This game was created in 72 hours for Game Writing SIG Arcjam. It was made in Arcweave, a tool designed for game writing (but not necessarily for interactive fiction).

It features a few sounds from ZapSplat. I was going to put in some music and maybe more sound effects, but it just wasn't working for me. Sometimes silence is a good fit.

In the game you'll encounter a rule. It's pretty easy to not break the rule, but you might not see very much going on unless you do. Try it more than once, if you can.

If this is your first time playing interactive fiction on itch, here's a tip. Choices will appear at the bottom of the screen. If you don't see any, you may have to scroll down. Some screens don't have any choices, but you'll see a blinking pink arrow. Just click the text and it will continue.

This game won the Excellence in Narrative Design award for the Game Writing SIG Arcjam (and placed 15th in the combined judging and community rankings)!
